A love story inside a repressive system
Christian Frosch's Von jetzt an kein zurück follows Ruby and Martin, two young people whose relationship collides with family violence, school discipline, and the West German welfare-home system. The film moves between the energy of youthful resistance and the lasting damage produced by authoritarian institutions.
The editing work
Daniel Scheimberg worked on the feature's edit alongside Karin Hammer. The structure had to sustain the urgency of the central relationship while allowing the film's political and historical dimensions to gather force around it. Shot largely in black and white, the finished film holds intimate performance, period detail, and institutional pressure in the same severe visual world.
Daniel's work received a nomination for Best Editing from the German Film Critics Association. The project remains a central example of Tiptoe's interest in politically engaged cinema where rhythm and perspective carry as much argument as dialogue.
From independent collaboration to recognized feature
The film connects Tiptoe's independent editing practice with a larger German-Austrian production context. It demonstrates the ability to enter demanding material, collaborate closely, and shape a feature whose emotional line and historical subject must remain inseparable.
